NextGen Now: Preparing for Next Generation 9-1-1 and MARCS System Changes

This fall, counties in the Next Generation 9-1-1
pilots will begin to come online. In this session, Department
of Administrative Services staff will explain the upgrade
process and how counties can prepare to become NG9
1-1 capable. The session also will cover MARCS system
changes for 2025.

Innovation in Addressing Behavioral Health Challenges in Jails

In April, Governor DeWine convened his Work
Group on Competency Restoration and Diversion. Dr.
Gordish will provide an overview of the work group’s charge,
issues throughout the state with forensic individuals and
behavioral health, and concepts that can be supported to
improve this area. Members also will hear from Kara Miller
about the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’
1115 Reentry Demonstration Waiver and the stakeholder
engagement process undertaken by Ohio Medicaid to
evaluate this opportunity.

Leading Through Adversity: Lessons Learned in the Trenches

Within a month of assuming her role at Ohio
EPA, Director Vogel faced a critical test when called upon
to coordinate a rapid and efficient response to the East
Palestine train derailment. In this presentation, Director
Vogel will talk about her proactive and collaborative efforts
used to lead the agency to contain the environmental and
health impacts of this specific incident, and how you can
implement these efforts in your community.
