Senate Bill 206
Lead Sponsors: Senator Al Cutrona
Status: Introduced (May 20, 2025)
Description: The bill creates a new property tax reduction for expanded homesteads (a homestead and as much of the land surrounding it as is necessary for the use of the dwelling as a home) occupied by an individual at least 65 years of age. The reduction equals 50% of the taxes due on the property after reductions from the homestead exemption and the 2.5% owner-occupancy tax credit.
The property tax reduction is reimbursed to local governments.
CCAO Position: The bill's provisions align with existing CCAO positions that call for enhanced property tax reductions for seniors.
