House Bill 443

Description: The bill prohibits county treasurers from enforcing property tax liens against "qualifying homesteads" and certain manufactured or mobile homes and prohibits county prosecutors from instituting a proceeding under a delinquent tax contract or certificate against those homes.
A qualifying homestead and manufactured/mobile homes that are eligible must meet the following requirements:
- Is occupied by at least one individual who is at least 65 years old OR the surviving spouse of an individual who was at least 65 years old when they died.
- The home's true value is less than $750,000.
- The home has delinquent taxes, penalties, interest, or special assessments.
- The owner has paid at least a portion of the delinquent taxes, penalties, interest, or special assessments charged against the home in the preceding month.
