Description: The bill prevents any public entity in Ohio from acquiring "small unmanned aircraft systems," commonly referred to as drones, from a foreign adversary. This prohibition extends both to drones sold by or assembled/manufactured by a foreign adversary. The bill grandfathers existing drones until May 1, 2027, after which public entities are prohibited from operating drones manufactured by, assembled by, or acquired from a foreign adversary.
The list of foreign adversaries will be maintained by the Secretary of State and must be based on similar lists maintained by the US Department of Commerce, the US Secretary of State, the US Attorney General, and lists designated by two specific US Presidential Executive Orders.
