Description: The bill alters the process for filling vacancies in certain offices whose terms begin outside of November, December, or January. For counties, this applies to the county auditor (term begins in March) and the county treasurer (term begins in September).

If a vacancy in such an office occurs and an individual has been certified as elected to the office for the following full term and is currently qualified, then the appointing authority must appoint that individual to fill the unexpired term.

For county purposes, the appointing authority is the board of county commissioners.
