Description: The bill would provide a full homestead exemption to surviving spouses of members of the uniformed services who died in the line of duty.

Property tax exemptions under the homestead program are revenue-neutral for counties since the state reimburses local governments for the foregone revenue. A similar bill from the 135th General Assembly estimated that the full exemption would total about $4 million annually.
