Description: The bill makes a number of changes to township law. Two provisions that may be of interest to counties are the requirement that, when a county road becomes a township road, the township trustees and county commissioners must enter into an agreement regarding financial assistance for the ongoing maintenance of the road, and the inclusion of funding for grants to local governments to modernize zoning codes.
CCAO Position: Interested Party; requested removal of a provision expanding the ability to create New Community Authorities to certain townships (the provision was subsequently removed).
Other Notes: The Ohio Township Association and the Ohio State Coroners Association have provided proponent testimony. The Ohio Municipal League provided interested party testimony regarding the New Community Authority provision.
