Ohio Local Governments Thank Ohio Senate for Strong Support of Local Communities with Passage of Senate Bill 310

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The County Commissioners Association of Ohio, Ohio Municipal League, Ohio Township Association, Ohio Mayors Alliance, Northeast Ohio Mayors & City Managers Association and Cuyahoga County Mayors & City Managers Association sincerely thank Senate President Larry Obhof, Sen. Matt Dolan and the Ohio Senate for passage of Senate Bill 310.

The Senate unanimously passed the legislation which would distribute $350 million of federal CARES Act funds to Ohio local governments not receiving a direct distribution from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. These federal funds can be utilized by local governments to fund non-budgeted COVID-19-related expenses.

Costs incurred by local governments to combat the pandemic are increasing while local revenue streams are dramatically weakening. The resources allocated by SB 310 are desperately needed to sustain the frontline local response to COVID-19.

Ohio and its local communities face significant health and economic challenges due to COVID-19. However, these are challenges that can and will be overcome with partnership and collaboration between the state and its local governments. We once again thank the Ohio Senate for partnering with local government and taking bold and swift action to provide critical resources where they are desperately needed.
