Kasich Vetoes Elected Officials’ Pay Bill
Urgent Action Needed for Override
Please Reach Out To Lawmakers
This afternoon Governor Kasich vetoed SB 296, legislation which contains an elected officials’ compensation package. This package would provide compensation adjustments and a COLA for all county elected officials.
The House and Senate sessions for a potential veto override have been scheduled for Thursday, December 27th. It will require a 2/3 majority vote from both chambers to override the governor’s veto.
Ahead of the anticipated December 27th veto override vote of SB 296, outreach to your state lawmakers is crucial. Please thank your lawmakers who voted in favor of the bill and urge those who did not vote or voted in opposition to support an override of the veto. Click here for the House vote sheet for SB 296.
We anticipate a close margin on an override vote; every contact with your state legislators makes a difference. Your efforts have taken us thus far, and your continued support is needed to clear this final hurdle.
