COLUMBUS, Ohio – CCAO recognizes and appreciates the Yost-Peterson-Wilkin proposal to allow counties that have multiple defendants and/or victims in capital murder cases to apply for state financial assistance to deliver justice.

“We appreciate the efforts by Auditor of State and Attorney General-elect Dave Yost, state Sen. Bob Peterson and state Rep. Shane Wilkin in working on much needed legislation to address the financial strain on a county budget when a case involves multiple victims and defendants,” CCAO President Daniel Troy said. “Counties should never have to compromise the delivery of justice based on their budgetary capacity to do so.”

The County Commissioners Association of Ohio advances effective county government for Ohio through legislative advocacy, education and training, technical assistance and research, quality enterprise service programs, and greater citizen awareness and understanding of county government.
